Hello !

My name is Furkan Karayel. Delighted to meet you here ! I will be your instructor for this course.

Let's get to know each other. Here is my story:

I started my career as a software engineer in a multinational tech company in Ireland. You might be already familiar with the lack of female representation in tech.  I was working in my dream job as a software engineer, however I was mostly the only representation of my identity as a woman, as a Turk, as a Muslim and also as an introvert in the teams I worked in. Later in my career I've also seen that women were always in the minority in the leadership positions in tech companies. Women with different ethnic backgrounds in leadership roles didn't even exist at all. This was my wakeup call.

Once diversity and inclusion became a trend for companies, I again observed that diversity and inclusion related decisions were being taken by top managers who did not experience being part of a minority in their lives. Diversity and inclusion activities have become one of the best PR tools in the media. All of these motivated me to found Diversein. Today, I bring people and experts from different backgrounds and expertise together to make equal and happier workplaces. As a company, we help companies to develop sustainable diversity inclusion strategies to further their journey into an authentic inclusion. My role as an inclusive leadership advisor is to train managers on how to recognise and practice inclusive leadership pillars on a daily basis and become diversity and inclusion role models.
